Merry Christmas: Our Light

“And when they saw it, they made known the saying that had been told them concerning this child.” Luke 2:17

When you hear the story of Christmas, you can’t really keep it to yourself! When you hear this story of God’s dedication and devotion to His creation, you can’t help but get a little excited about it! The shepherds who heard and saw for themselves wasted no time in spreading the message of the angels! God has fulfilled His long-awaited promise to His people! God has sent a Savior! God has sent the Christ who is Lord of All! God has made Him known to us all!

For much of our service tonight, we worshipped the Lord’s Christ by candlelight. This has been symbolic of the Light the Lord has sent into the World. Symbolic of the Christ who has come. Now it’s time to leave the symbolism behind! The Christ of God has come and He has saved you. He has healed you. He has forgiven you. He has granted you life that no darkness can ever snatch away from you. He has in fact made you into His bright light for this dark, dark world!

Therefore, you have no need of some symbolic candle! For you yourself are the light of the world! You yourself have received the Lord’s Christ! You have the message from the angels, from the shepherds, from the apostles! You have the Christ of Christmas! Let us waste no time in proclaiming this wonderful and exciting Christmas news with everyone whom the Lord puts in our paths! Christ the Savior is born! Christ the Savior died on the cross for the sins of the world! Christ the Savior has been raised from the dead! Christ the Savior lives and reigns forever and ever! And we are the chosen ones of Christ, sent to shine His light in the darkness! Christ is coming back for us! Amen, Come Lord Jesus! Amen!

 Silent night, holy night!
All is calm, all is bright
Round yon virgin mother and child.
Holy Infant, so tender and mild,
Sleep in heavenly peace,
Sleep in heavenly peace.

  Silent night, holy night!
Shepherds quake at the sight;
Glories stream from heaven afar,
Heav’nly hosts sing, Alleluia!
Christ, the Savior, is born!
Christ, the Savior, is born!

  Silent night, holy night!
Son of God, love’s pure light
Radiant beams from Thy holy face
With the dawn of redeeming grace,
Jesus, Lord, at Thy birth,
Jesus, Lord, at Thy birth.
