A New Heart (3)

I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. Ezekiel 36:26

It never happens all at once, things like this never do. One day you look at yourself in the mirror and you simply don’t know the person looking back. Time took its toll. Stress shows in the lines of your face. Repressed anger marks the corners of your mouth where a smile once appeared. You can never quite tell how it happens, but a heart can gradually turn to stone.

It doesn’t have to be this way. The world may have given you a slow and steady beat down, but it needn’t have the last word. Jesus has stretched His hand to pick you up. To rip out that stony heart, crumble it like clay, and breathe life back into your heart. Life like you can almost remember if you allow yourself reminiscence. No petrified heart – no more.

Jesus, crumble my stony heart and give me a heart that loves. Amen.
