A Loving Heart (5)

God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit. Romans 5:5

Love. A simple word, yet so difficult to define. You know it when you see it. Conversely, you know when you don’t see it. When you don’t feel it. When the world is as cold as a sunless January morning and everyone you thought cared about you seems miles away. How painful when the love you pour out to others is less than reciprocated.

Pull up a chair and warm your heart by the gentle fire of Jesus’ love. Lit by this love, suffering and sorrow quickly melt into endurance and perseverance. As the warmth of Jesus’ great love penetrates your life, all of a sudden you find yourself living in a hope you cannot begin to explain. A hope founded in the love that never fades. Love inundating your heart, warming you to the tips of your toes and flowing out from you to cold lives around you.

Jesus, thank you for warming my heart with your love. Amen.
