God is greater than our heart and He knows everything. 1 John 3:20
To be known is one thing but to be understood is something altogether different. How we long to be comprehended. Loved for who we are. Instead, we have parents with unattainable expectations, boyfriends who seem to care about only one thing, wives who insist on changing us, and fickle friends who are here one day and gone the next. Still the desire remains – to be understood and to be loved.
The love we seek can be found in our relationships. Momentary glimpses of selfless love flare up, but quickly fizzle out. There is one significant exception to this apparent norm – Jesus Christ. Truly God, He could have demanded obedience. Instead He told some stories, preached some sermons, healed some people, and died. He sacrificed Himself for people. For you. Kicking death to the curb, Jesus lives for you. Knowing and understanding every ounce of who you are and loving you just the same.
Jesus, you know me yet forgive me. Thank you. Amen.
