I Can’t Understand it (21)

The peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:7

“I don’t understand.” Three words simultaneously demonstrating our limitations and desire for information. “I don’t understand, but given time and education, I know I could.” The quest for knowledge seldom slows especially in our information age of technological advancement. There is so much to know, perhaps more than we will ever come to comprehend.

Not knowing is no fun. A concession of ignorance can leave an acrid flavor of failure in our mouths. Savory is the piquancy of knowing the One who understands all. Who understands you. Who not only created the universe and all things, but also comprehends and cares for every lilliputian (fun word of the day!) detail, not the least of which . . . is you! In His care and understanding, the Lord grants peace that we cannot understand. And that’s okay because we’re in the hands of He who does!

Jesus, thank you for peace. Amen.
