Good Breath (22)

The Lord God formed the man of the dust from the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life. Genesis 2:7

What a place to start! With Christmas so close, look back to where it all began. The first gift: life! A man of dust . . . shaped, molded, fashioned in the capable, caring hands of the Master Craftsman, a true Creator. More than a mere sculptor, God intricately carved out a living being. Complete with a heart, veins, eye-lids, fingernails, hair follicles, and everything else that makes us human, God manufactured the first-ever man.

Then He breathed on him. God’s breath. Good breath. Life-injecting air from the Lord of Life. Spirit breathing life. Pumping blood from heart through veins to every organ and extremity of this newly molded somebody. There he stood, blinking his eyes. Taking in the smells. Listening to the sounds. Feeling the cool grass beneath his freshly fashioned feet. Living. Jesus has come to breathe this very life back into you.

Jesus, thank you for my life. Amen.
