. . . that you may be able to withstand the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. Ephesians 6:10
She didn’t want to hurt anybody’s feelings, so she kept quiet. She didn’t want to rock the boat, so she held her opinions close by. Not wanting to refuse her service, she lent herself out as the family doormat. She wanted to be everything to everyone and in the process lost herself.
Isn’t that slick of Satan? To get us where it really hurts? Right smack dab in the middle of our goodness. The devil sets up his playground in the rigors and rituals of your everyday life. Swinging from the tire-swing of your “being nice”. Whisking down the slide of your unspoken objections. Spinning on the merry-go-round of your heartfelt desire to do no damage.
With Jesus, stand up to the ancient bully and kick him off his playground. Stand for truth. Stand for what’s right. Armored by God, stand firm.
Dear Jesus, stand with me. Amen.
