To me to live is Christ, and to die is gain. Philippians 1:21
Hours have a way of passing into years in places like this. If you’re not careful, you might just forget who you are. You understand their reasons for putting you here; for setting you aside. You’ve long since gave up trying to change things, retreating instead to the daily monotony of moving from room to hall to cafeteria to hall to room. Resigning yourself to life’s end.
Yet deep inside burns a flickering of a flame that lights a long-forgotten room of your undervalued mind: this is not the end. Burning ever so slightly brighter, you remember. You are alive. In Christ, there is no end. There is life. Life in the present age or life in the age to come, but life just the same. Shake out the cobwebs of a life nearly forgotten and find someone to love. For in love we find purpose, and in purpose, life.
Jesus, raise me to live life. Amen.
