Hope does not put us to shame because God’s love has been poured into our hearts. Romans 5:5

Broken people hurt each other. That’s what we do. Sometimes in little ways, other times in big ways; just the same, the pain inflicted is real. Ugly words and injurious actions cannot be taken back. Like flies around rotten food, once spoken our angry articulations are ever out there. Once made, our actions define who we are and what we’re capable of. Poor choices can put us to shame.

Broken people healed by Jesus live in hope. Restored by the love of God in Jesus, we seek reconciliation with each other. Not satisfied with shattered relationships, we pray the Lord works through us and reshapes us into something more; something better. We cannot take our words or actions back, but we can ask forgiveness. In the love and forgiveness of Jesus, we can seek to set things right and restore our relationships.

Jesus, keep shame from me and heal my brokenness. Amen.
