Sword

In all circumstances take up the shield of faith . . . and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God. Ephesians 6:16-17

Forty days’ worth of raw temptation against our Lord amounted to nothing more than a sound beat down of the devil. Jesus used the very sword God has given us to defeat the devil. With faith and trust in the Lord, there are no words Satan can whisper, no lies he can conjure, no backbiting he can beget that will ever touch you. To those with such faith, we are shielded from what amounts to nothing more than  pesky little darts.

And then . . . we attack! Brandishing the dagger of the devil’s demise, we swing into action speaking Jesus’ words! In the face of his lies, we speak Jesus’ love! Toe to toe with Satan, we stand protected; victorious in Christ. Slicing through the thick scales of Satan’s slander, our God-given weapon renders the enemy impotent.

Jesus, shield me and slay our enemy with your word. Amen.
