Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. Philippians 2:4
Challenging are the words before us today. Not that we would ever let on, but it’s tough to care sometimes. With all that’s on your own plate – the burdensome mortgage, the shaky marriage, the busy kids, the uncertainty with work – well, you’ve got plenty to deal with. What if you didn’t have to worry over these trials? How would your life be different? Would you have more time for the concerns of others?
Hidden in the words of Philippians 2:4 is a promise: you are cared for. All for which you fret will be provided in the care and concern of your God and Father. Trade worry for trust. Depend on the promise signed and delivered by Jesus. Take the difficult challenge of trusting God’s promise to care for you and spend your newfound extra time caring for the interests of others.
Jesus, strengthen my faith. Amen.
