Humble yourselves . . . casting all your anxieties on Him, because He cares for you. 1 Peter 5:6-7
For many, worry has become so entrenched in the fabric of our lives that to not seems somehow disingenuous. Believe it or not, every time you worry, you have made the choice to do it. But to what end? What change have you affected by your sleepless nights and countless brooding hours? Aside from a budding stomach ulcer, not much. You cannot change what is outside your control. To put it differently, you are not God.
But God is God. And in His being God has made a sincere promise to shepherd you through all the countless things you think you need to worry about. Poor health? He holds your life in His capable hands. Financial troubles? He provides food even for the smallest sparrow. Family problems? He sends His Spirit of peace among you. Don’t worry. God’s got this! Don’t worry. God’s got you!
Jesus, carry every last one of my burdens. Amen.
