Good Friday

The crowds were shouting, “Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!” Matthew 21:9

Breaking from the traditional treatment of God’s holy prophets, one crowd happily heralded Jesus’ coming. A different crowd was brooding about, scheming ways to rid the world of this unnecessary nuisance. The clash came the end of holy week. Eager to entrap Jesus in His words, they started in with their impossible questions. Jesus answered well and was determined acceptable for sacrifice. Pontius Pilate agreed, declaring he found nothing in Him deserving crucifixion. But this is the Lamb of God, so slaughtered He shall be. “Let His blood be upon us,” cried the crucifixion crowd. Without words, Jesus replied, “that’s the idea”. Jesus’ precious blood was spilled, not only for that crowd, but for you as well. His blood is upon us and through His blood we are made well. On this Good Friday, let us remember.

Jesus, this day is good thanks entirely to you. Amen.
