Live as people who are free, not using your freedom as a cover-up for evil, but living as servants of God. 1 Peter 2:16
It’s a free country! Well, mostly. I mean, there are certain limitations to our freedom. Laws put in place to protect the populace from mayhem and pandemonium. Culturally agreed upon folkways, mores, and taboos. These limitations are good; in fact, they protect the freedom we treasure. Each of us enjoy a high level of freedom in America.
Yet there remains a freedom that transcends even what we have in the “land of the free”. Christ, the Son of the Living God has set free those who follow Him. Freedom from sin. Freedom from God’s anger and wrath. Freedom to live a life of love. Freedom to be God’s beloved people, perfect in Christ. Freedom to serve each other and thus glorify God. Freedom from evil and wickedness. A freely given freedom from the Lord of life!
Jesus, set us free to live and to love. Amen.
