Your righteousness reaches the high heavens. You who have done great things, O God, who is like you? Psalm 71:19
How did we get here? Most have pondered this basic question. There are various explanations for our existence, but which one works? If there was a mysterious big bang that randomly set everything in motion and over the course of billions of years’ time, all things aligned just right, where did the “stuff” that was “banged out” come from? This question can never be answered from within creation/nature.
But if there is One who is outside of nature, completely unbound by the laws of creation, perhaps He has the power to create from nothing. There is an account of history that takes this as its starting place. Where did everything come from? According to Genesis, the God who is outside of creation created. According to John the Apostle, God later became part of His creation. Who is like Him?
Lord, you do great things; there is none like you. Amen.
