Not Counted

Blessed is the man against whom the Lord will not count his sin. Romans 4:8

The effort required to hold a grudge is surprisingly high. Injured by another, we feel justified in hanging on to hurt and resentment. It is my right to remain angry as long as I so choose. Unrecognized is the fact that each angry thought you trudge up against that person drags you down deeper and deeper by the day. The only one hurt by your unwillingness to forgive is you.

Quick forgiveness is better by far. Jesus didn’t wait around for us to be sorry enough to be forgiven. He simply forgives. While we were sinners. Well before the thought of begging forgiveness ever entered our minds, forgiveness has already been granted. For you that are in Christ, none of your sins are counted against you. They have already been counted against Him. Just as Jesus doesn’t hold your wrongs against you, pray for the strength to also forgive.

Jesus, strengthen me to forgive. Amen.
