New Knees (A Devotion with Dad in Mind – he just got his 2nd knee replaced)

At the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth. Philippians 2:10

The older they get, the harder they are to bend. The more worn out they become, the more regularly painful they are. For hundreds of thousands of people each year, it comes to the point they cannot tolerate their God-given knees anymore and opt for replacement. Several short months of intense therapy brings about pain-free knees bending normally!

For many it takes more than this routine procedure to bend our knees; to bend our wills. At the name of Jesus every knee will bow. But many see no need for such an exercise. For them, a new knee will never do. Instead, a new heart is the intense need. An icy heart melted. A stone heart chipped. A callous heart softened. A doubting heart convinced by the gracious and merciful word of the Lord. The Lord comes speaking lovingly hopeful words into our hearts.

Amen, come soon Lord Jesus, amen!
