Walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave Himself up for us. Ephesians 5:2
Joan Osborne famously asked, “What if God was one of us?” Jesus said, “Whatever you’ve done to the least of these my brethren, you’ve done it to me.” So the homeless guy in this picture? What if he is Jesus? What would that mean to you? Would you give him something to eat? Would you give him a place to stay? It’s not easy to see Jesus in a man like this, but does it change your perspective to know that Jesus is found in the least of those around us?
Love is precious. You know it is. Love brightens us and makes us better people. Love picks us up out of the dumps. Love, especially that which flows from Jesus, changes lives. What if someone dared love this homeless man? What if we took him out to dinner? Would he know he’s loved? Would it make a difference?
Jesus, teach me to love. Amen.
