Armed and Ready

Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. (Eph. 6:11)

Daily Reading: Ephesians 6:10-18

Here are three takeaways for today from Ephesians:

1. Know your enemy – Paul urges us to take the devil seriously, and to be alert for the spiritual forces of evil – our real enemies – that lurk behind everyday temptations, conflicts, or distractions. One way or another, Satan will attack your soul. Only by faith in Christ can you extinguish his attacks.

2. Know your mighty Lord – You are clothed with the risen Jesus! So long as you rely on His help and grace, you are strong! The enemy is strong and dangerous, but your Savior by your side is far stronger!

3. Know that you can prevail – Paul has a “can do” message in the text. Armed and ready in Christ, you are able to stand your ground against the evil one. Although Satan still lashes out, he is already defeated and Christ’s victory is yours!

Lord, deliver us from evil. Amen.
