All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all. (Isaiah 53:6)
I have a dog that loves to escape. For the most part, I like the dog, perhaps even love her. But oh how frustrating when she gets out of the yard. Disgust best describes my state of mind when I’m chasing her down, often up to a mile or more!
How far do we sometimes stray from our Master and Lord? Whether wanton and willful or inconsequential and unintentional, we have wandered.
No mere miles, but from heaven to earth our Lord has come seeking us. No bitterness found in His heart, only love for His lost sheep. Furthermore, the punishment we earned for our wayward living was given to our Good Shepherd. Ponder today the heights and depths of Jesus’ amazing love.
Dear Jesus, I am quite thankful to be your lamb; thank you for being my Good Shepherd. Amen.
